10/06/12 Statement by the RIEE on the unlawful detention of Professor Esteban Peralta

Following the news of the detention in Libya of the international official Dr Esteban Peralta Losilla, an agent of the International Court, and his three fellow mission members, the Real Instituto de Estudios Europeos, on whose Board Professor Peralta sits, calls on the Libyan authorities to release all of them unconditionally, to return their personal belongings and to ensure their swiftest and safest possible return to the place from which their official journey began. This is required by the rules of international law and is without prejudice to any substantive disagreements that may arise, such as those concerning jurisdiction to try the case.
