15/02/18 Tribute to the Spanish Transition to Democracy, presided over by Javier Solana Madariaga
A tribute to the Spanish Transition to Democracy, an essential condition for Spain's accession to the European Communities, presided over by Javier Solana Madariaga, former Minister of Foreign Affairs, former Secretary General of NATO, the European Union's first High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy and one of the very few people in the world to hold the Order of the Golden Fleece.
At the express wish of the Institute and of “La Caixa”, the tribute focused on seven prominent Aragonese figures of the Transition: Juan Antonio Bolea, José Ángel Biel, Ramón Tejedor, José Ramón Lasuén, Carlos Pérez Anadón, Ángel Cristóbal Montes and Adolfo Burriel. Like Mr Solana and the President of the Institute, all of them shared their views on that great achievement of national and generational understanding, generosity and patriotism which, under the firm guidance of His Majesty King Juan Carlos I, culminated in a Constitution made for all Spaniards for the first time, following elections from which no one was excluded. At CaixaForum Zaragoza, before a large audience, the honourees received a Diploma of Civic Merit
